Manufacturers of medicines abroad have adopted the international standard GMP (good manufacturing practice). It is expected that the CIS countries, including Russia, will also introduce this standard on their territory before 2020. Therefore, in order to increase the competitiveness of drug substances (created at the Institute) in the domestic and foreign markets, it is necessary to use GMP standards in their production.

To solve this problem, the investment project of the Institute “Modernization and reconstruction of pilot production for the creation, development and production of original substances from plant materials and the most popular generics according to GMP requirements” was sent, implemented according to the Decrees of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Program for the modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of enterprises pharmaceutical industry for the period up to 2011” and PP-1442 “On the priorities of the development of the industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2011-2015”, which is carried out at the expense of extrabudgetary funds of the Institute and a loan from a commercial bank.

As a result of the project, the Institute has created a modern production facility for deep processing of plant materials in accordance with the requirements of international standards and obtaining substances of biologically active substances with a purity of 95% and higher.

The modernized pilot production of the Institute will be the only GMP enterprise in Central Asia, producing at the first stage 20 medicinal substances of original import-substituting and export drugs for the treatment of diseases that are widespread in the Republic. When the upgraded production facility reaches full capacity, it will annually process more than 500 tons of plant raw materials, and produce the substances of 50 original import-substituting and export-oriented drugs and dry plant extracts. This will make it possible to use the funds received to develop more domestic drugs, improve their quality and bring them to the domestic and foreign markets.
