On April 29, 2026, the Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances was visited by Professor Nathalie Guivarc'h from Tours.
Professor Nathalie Guivarc'h is a faculty member of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Tours and Director of the Plant Biomolecules and Biotechnology Laboratory (BBV – EA2106). She obtained her PhD in plant physiology from Paris-Sud University (Paris-Orsay). Since 1996, she has been working at the University of Tours, conducting research on specialized plant metabolism and its applications in pharmacology, cosmetology, and plant protection.
She has held the position of Professor since 2008, and since 2012 has been leading the laboratory.
She is actively involved in numerous research projects, including industrial collaborations and joint initiatives integrated into regional programs (biopharmaceuticals and cosmetic sciences), as well as national and European-level projects.
Since 2011, she has been a member of the Board of the Biotechnology Center (serving as President in 2014–2015) and, since 2010, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Cosmetic Valley. She is also a co-founder of GDR 3711 Cosm’actif (2015–2023) and the national network MétaSP (established in 2014), dedicated to specialized metabolism, and has served as its President since 2019.
With a strong commitment to academic development, she co-founded a dual Master’s degree program in Biotechnology and Law in 2005, which she continues to lead.
In December 2024, she was elected Vice-Rector responsible for technology transfer and partnerships.
The purpose of her visit to the Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances is to establish scientific and technical cooperation with Uzbekistan in the fields of cosmetology, pharmaceuticals, and capacity building.
