- A biodegradable film based on natural plant polysaccharides has been developed
Scientists at the Laboratory of chemistry of high molecular plant substances, Yunusov Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances (ICPS) Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan have developed a new optimal composition for obtaining biodegradable films that are environmentally friendly and completely safe for the environment based on water-soluble polysaccharides of local plants. These films are similar to synthetic polyethylene films in appearance and mechanical properties, and consist entirely of natural plant polysaccharides. They are easily biodegradable in soil and aquatic environments. The resulting biodegradable films are promising for use in the food and pharmaceutical industries and play a significant role in environmental protection. Patent No IAP 8274 was obtained for this development by the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
