II. The aim of the research to develop technologies for obtaining glycyrrhizinic acid and its aglycone, glycyrrhetinic acid, from Glycyrrhiza glabra L. plant raw materials using ultrafiltration and macroporous adsorbent resins; to develop a technology for obtaining glabridin substance from secondary products of raw material processing; and to develop technologies for the production of the pharmaceutical composition “Gepalipin” based on glycyrrhizinic acid, as well as substances for biologically active food supplements.
III. The scientific novelties of the research work are as follows:
for the first time, a comparative determination of the contents of glycyrrhizinic acid (5.8–6.5%) and glabridin (0.08–0.15%) was carried out in the roots of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. collected in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm and Syrdarya regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the patterns of their distribution in individual morphological parts of the root were established;
the extraction process of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. raw materials in an aqueous medium was optimized using mathematical experimental design methods, and the optimal technological conditions for the extraction of glycyrrhizinic acid with a high yield were established;
for the first time, using the Latin square method, the optimal technological parameters of the ultrafiltration process for fractionating the plant extract into fractions containing primary and secondary metabolites were determined, and an optimal technological regime for the efficient isolation of glycyrrhizinic acid was developed;
for the first time, a comparative evaluation of the adsorption–desorption properties of an aqueous extract of licorice roots on various macroporous adsorbent resins was carried out, the most effective resin was identified, and the optimal technological conditions for the purification of glycyrrhizinic acid were established;
the optimal technological parameters for the acid hydrolysis of technical-grade glycyrrhizinic acid were established, and a technology for obtaining a high-purity glycyrrhetinic acid substance was developed;
the technology for the extraction of glabridin from the secondary product of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. root processing (meal) was improved, and the optimal technological parameters for obtaining a high-purity glabridin substance were established;
the optimal composition of the multicomponent pharmaceutical composition “Gepalipin” was scientifically substantiated, and a technology for the production of a hepatoprotective medicinal product based on it was developed;
a comprehensive analytical control system based on HPLC was developed for monitoring the production of glycyrrhizinic acid, glycyrrhetinic acid, glabridin, and “Gepalipin” substances;
for the first time, 3-oxoglycyrrhetinic acid (0.39%) and glycyrrhetinic acid (0.21 for the first time, 3-oxoglycyrrhetinic acid (0.39%) and glycyrrhetinic acid (0.21%) were isolated from Glycyrrhiza glabra L. root meal, and their structures were confirmed using modern spectroscopic analytical methods.
IV. Implementation of the research results. Based on the results of scientific research obtained during the development of technologies for the production of substances from the studied objects:
1. A patent for an invention was obtained from the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan for a method of obtaining biologically active compounds from Glycyrrhiza glabra L. root meal (No. IAP 8048, 2025), thereby creating an opportunity to obtain glabridin substance from a secondary product of plant raw material processing.
2. The organizational standard “Plant Extracts” (Ts 03535440-026:2025) was developed and registered with the Agency “Uzstandard”; based on this standard, the technological instruction “Licorice Root Extract” (TI-03535440-026:2025) was developed. The obtained results enabled the introduction of a biologically active food supplement based on locally sourced plant raw materials into the food industry.
3. Technical specifications (Ts 03535440-046:2022) and technological instructions for production (TI-03535440-046:2022) were developed for “GLABRIDIN” substances with a content of 5–40%. As a result, an opportunity was created for the practical application of these substances in the food and cosmetics industries.
4. Based on the developed technology, a pharmacopoeial monograph for the active pharmaceutical ingredient of the medicinal product “Gepalipin” (FS 42 Uz-4691-2025) was approved by the Pharmaceutical Center. As a result, an opportunity was created for the practical implementation of a new medicinal product with hepatoprotective properties.
5. At the Scientific and Technological Center of the Institute of Chemistry of Plant Substances, equipped in accordance with GMP requirements, a state registration certificate for the active pharmaceutical ingredient of the medicinal product “Gepalipin” (DV/M 03937/10/21) was obtained from the Pharmaceutical Center, creating an opportunity for its serial production and practical application.
